Good to Know
The nice thing about the house is that it’s really a family home. You will notice that it does feel like staying in a friend's house because the house is used by the family all the time and it feels like a privilege to be able to stay there. It’s not a regular rental and it’s not set up as such. Therefore, you need to be aware that our belongings and family history run through the house, and it is constantly being cared for and developing according to the needs of the family and guests.
Do not expect a fancy all perfect rental house as that is not what it is but rather expect to feel at home surrounded by a lovely atmosphere that will make you almost feel like it’s your home.
As the house is situated in a rural area with lots of trees, fire is a constant worry and you need to be careful when setting up the BBQ. Making a fire anywhere besides the designated area for the BBQ is therefore not allowed.
Occasionally the gardener or the cat lady might be coming for some maintenance work or to feed the cats that strain around. We try to prevent them from coming when the house is occupied but sometimes that will be unavoidable.
We do not live nearby as this is a weekend house. Sara and Kyanna live in Lisbon and Marta lives in Amsterdam. Most of the time your communication will be through Marta but for any emergency on location, Sara and Kyanna are available to solve any problem. One of them most likely will check you in and out.
Pets are welcome but it's important that you mind your pet and clean up after them, even if they do their needs in the garden. When going sightseeing we do not recommend leaving your pet behind. If you need to do so, please make sure your pet cannot cause any damage inside the house or in the garden. Any damage costs will be charged on departure.
Practical information about using the house will be given to you upon arrival.
